Researching the Krause Family of Florida, New York

I am researching the Krause Family of Florida, New York. My Grandmother was Lena Schilling, who I never knew since she died before I was born. Her maiden name was Lena Krause. Her father was Carl Krause and her mother, Caroline Mowitz (Movitz).

I started researching in 1982. Much of the information here is from family interviews and written correspondence. Here is what I have:

Carl Krause, born in Germany on 20 Nov 1848, and died in Florida, NY, on 14 Feb 1922. Buried in the Florida Cemetery. He married Caroling Mowitz (Movitz), who died on 14 Jan 1886. She is also buried in the Florida Cemetery. The couple had the following children:

Daniel, born in Germany
Augusta
Minnie Julia
Lena
Charles
Anna
Freddie

Caroline died 19 Jan 1886, According to the Death Cert., she was here for 13 years, which would mean she came here c. 1873. She died of Typho (Typhoid (?) ) Rheumatic Fever. Her son Freddie died 31 Jan 1886 at 4 months, and her daughter Anna died 6 Feb 1886 at 4 years old. I assume the same disease took all three. That left Carl a widower with four children. He remarried Joannah Wilhmena (Winnie) Hinkelman and had the following children:

Edith, born 1889
Bertha, born 1892
John (stillborn) Winnie Hinkelman died during childbirth c.1895.

The only one of this family that I had contact with was "Aunt Bertha." She married Mike Pillmier and I remember visiting them at their home as a young boy with my parents. All informal events were done in the kitchen; you didn't go anywhere else.

Some notes I wrote, I quess, in the 1980's:

This is where it gets hard. Carl Krause and family came from Germany near the Polish border. wherever that was in those times. He spoke Polish, German, French, and English. He came over here with nothing and seemed to be quite successful . In later life he always kept a a $1000 pinned to his pocket. Upon his death he left an estate of 30,000 dollars. His second wife died in childbirth with son John. Bertha was 3 at the time.
